Guided tour of the Vatican

Guided tour of the Vatican

The Vatican and it’s museums are without doubt the greatest highlight of Rome and a must on your visit to the Eternal City.

Let yourself be swept away by the beauty of papal collections, which span across 5 miles of frescoed hallways and constitute one of the most extensive collections of art in the world.

Walk through centuries of history and discover masterpieces of classical Greece that once upon a time decorated the palaces of the Roman Emperors. Meet with the geniuses of Renaissance and Baroque such as Giotto, Perugino, Leonardo and Caravaggio. Enter the apartments of the pope Julius II where Raphael through his frescoes tells us the history of the church. Last but not least meet with Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.

The tour ends with a visit to St. Peter’s basilica, the worlds biggest church ironically enough situated in the world’s smallest country, the Vatican. There amongst the baroque interiors of Bernini and the funeral monuments of the popes is one of Michelangelo’s first sculptures, the Pieta’.

Guided tour of the Vatican itinenary: Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel, Rafael rooms and St. Peter’s basilica.

Time of the tour: 3 hours.
